EB affects all skin cover and most of mucosal surface, including mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines, lungs, bladder, genitals and eyes.
There are various types of EB depending on affection of epidermis and derma with own characteristics: from blisters on foots to fatal cases in early childhood.
Dressings with Safetac®technology are what we have today to see the difference and improve the quality of life and release EB patients from pain.
Safetac®technology drastically reduces both the pain and tissue damage in wound management. And without the trauma of maceration, blistering and skin-stripping the healing process is accelerated.
These dressings are made of thin, flexible foam with soft silicone contact layers. As Safetac seals
Safetac® technology is an adhesive that is clinically proven to cause less pain at removal.Safetac technology molds to the skin’s uneven surface pores.
Safetac technology makes dressing changes less painful becauseit adheres gently to dry skin but never to a moist wound. It molds to the wound and surrounding skin. This means that the dressing is easier to remove and does not pull away new tissue in the wound or the skin around the wound. It seals the edges of the wound and protects the skin around the wound. Dressings with safetac have proved themselves as the preferable way to treat EB.
The dressing for EB patients should be chosen depending on exudate: if the wound is infected - MepilexAg will be a good choice, in case of no or low exudate - MepilexLite is used, if exudate is moderate - MepilexorMepilexBorder will help, which is also used while showering, and MepilexTransfer is used for hard-to-reach parts of body, like armpits, groin or fingers.
